About
After a 25 year career as an artist, metalsmith, and production jewelry designer, I became interested in the book arts. While learning about bookbinding and conservation, I found that there was very little information about book closures or hardware, and no readily available resource for clasps and bosses; so I did some research, and began to make my own.
In addition to maintaining my original jewelry business, I now accept some commissions for clasp restoration, repair or replication. And I also do some minimal book repair, and I make the odd book, now and then, as I have time, sometimes incorporating a new clasp, sometimes not.
I also teach workshops for book artists, teaching them some simplified metal working skills and metal decorating techniques which they can accomplish using readily available tools and materials. More information at here.
And, as if we did not already have enough to do, we well books on eBay, and antiques and collectibles in the Edgewater Antique Mall in Chicago, IL.
